Mel, Veterinary Assistant

Hi, I'm Mel! I moved to the PNW in 2022 from southern California and can't imagine a more beautiful place to call home.

I have been in the pet industry since 2013 when I was invited by my manager to be the store's dog trainer. As I was going through their accreditation, I was hooked. I began searching for more education as I fell in love with the process of helping fearful and aggressive animals find their peace. Soon after my accreditation, I became Fear Free Elite certified and Low Stress Handling certified. I have been able to assist multiple companies integrate fear free and low stress concepts into their practice, and am now so grateful to be a part of a team that aligns with these values. Now, I am in school to become a Certified Vet Tech with a specialty in behavior and look forward to marry my passions of science and animal behavior. I am proud to be a member of this team which encourages us to accommodate your pet and make coming to the vet one less worry for you and your furry family member.

Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, picking up new artsy hobbies (drawing, embroidery, clay sculpting, you name it!), and finding all of the weirdness that Portland has to offer.
